Designed for photographers of all experience levels, these private Photo Adventures combine thoughtful planning, personalized guidance, and flexibility in the field to create a photography experience shaped around what matters most to you.
“Highly recommend. Meticulously planned trip. Bender shared valuable in-field ideas and post-field workflow support. She's knowledgeable about specific sites, including optimal timing and flexibility as weather conditions required. I learned a lot and left with photos I'm excited to process!”

Why Choose a Private Photo Tour

A private custom photo tour offers a more personal, flexible, and intentional way to learn in the field. Instead of working within the structure of a standard group workshop, private tours allow the experience to be shaped around your goals, interests, pace, and photographic priorities. That may mean focusing on a target species, spending more time refining a specific technique, or building a trip around a destination or seasonal opportunity that matters deeply to you.

This format is especially valuable for photographers who want more individualized instruction and a more adaptable experience. With fewer moving parts and more room for flexibility, we can respond thoughtfully to light, weather, wildlife behavior, and creative opportunity as they unfold. It also creates space for deeper conversations, more direct feedback, and a pace that better supports how you learn and work in the field.

For photographers who want more than a fixed itinerary, private custom photo tours offer a meaningful alternative: one built around personalized guidance, thoughtful planning, and the kind of hands-on experience that helps you return home with both stronger images and a deeper understanding of the places and subjects you photographed.

What Makes My Private Tours Different

My private custom photo tours are about more than visiting a destination or chasing a shot list. They are built to help you grow as a photographer through personalized instruction, thoughtful planning, and a field-based approach rooted in observation, adaptability, and respect for the natural world.

They are also built for photographers by a photographer. That matters because it influences every part of the experience. These Photo Adventures are designed around photographic opportunity, not just travel logistics or sightseeing. Timing, locations, pace, and daily decisions are approached with an understanding of light, behavior, weather, seasonality, and the realities of working in the field as a photographer.

I believe in helping photographers understand how to work within a place—how to read the conditions in front of them, anticipate what may unfold, and respond with greater intention. The better naturalist you are, the better nature photographer you will be, and that philosophy is woven into the way I teach.

Whether you are booking one-on-one instruction or a private small group experience, the format allows for more direct feedback, more flexibility, and a more personal way of learning. And because every tour is grounded in a conservation-minded approach, respect for wildlife, habitat, local communities, and the experience itself remains part of the foundation from beginning to end. This means the experience is shaped not only around where you want to go, but around how photographers actually need to work once they get there.

What You Can Customize and Learn
  • Customize your destination, subject, and pace

  • Focus on wildlife, landscapes, macro, or creative technique

  • Receive personalized instruction before, during, and after the tour

A private custom photo tour can be built around both what you want to photograph and what you want to learn. That may mean designing a trip around a specific destination, species, season, or style of photography, while also tailoring the instruction to your experience level, creative goals, and preferred pace in the field.

These Photo Adventures can be customized for destinations such as Japan, Costa Rica, the Azores, the Faroe Islands, and select U.S. locations including Florida, Nevada, Utah, Grand Teton, Arizona, Monterey, and Caddo Lake. They can also be shaped around subjects such as whooping cranes, wild horses, shorebirds, brown bears, Japanese red-crowned cranes, Steller’s sea eagles, wildflowers, waterfalls, macro photography, or creative in-camera techniques.

Because the experience is personalized, the learning can be as broad or as focused as you need it to be. You may want to improve camera settings and field workflow, strengthen composition, better understand light and behavior, or build confidence working in changing outdoor conditions. Private tours can also include virtual pre-tour meetings for logistics and preparation, as well as post-tour editing support and image review to extend the value of the experience beyond the trip itself.
